Royal Merdeka

Hotel Royal Merdeka is housed in a tall white building with 6 floors smack bang in the middle of the Bandung city center. The spacious white marbled lobby immediately shows that this hotel was recently built. Compared to other hotels in the two star range, that try to advocate dilapidated colonial roots as charming, the Royal Merdeka spurs a modern and well maintained décor.

The world time piece behind the counter unfortunately displays only Frankfurt and London time. Los Angeles , Tokyo and even Jakarta are no longer working. Luckily, this is not an indication of the state of the rest of the hotel. The smallPacific bar looks cozy and the restaurant called the Deli Coffee-Shop is cheerful and lively, with business travelers enjoying their much needed coffee in the light and airy setting.

The rooms are equally well kept, with clean carpets and tasteful furnishings. For a hotel of this caliber the management has done a good job in providing a ho mel y feel and a sense of luxury. It is certainly a lot more cheerful than the other hotels in the Royal group.

The staff is friendly and seems to enjoy working here. Well groomed and smiling, they seem to have absorbed the general ambience of the hotel: functional and cheerful.

Overall this hotel features basic facilities and rooms in a cozy and welcoming setting. Its strategic location and easy access to Bandung 's city center makes it a good option for business travelers who are tired of the depressing dark thorough fares that make up the bulk of this business section of accommodation
